Location    Sacramento Chess Club Meetings have restarted at Great Escape Games. Great Escape Games does not require individuals who are fully vaccinated to wear a mask when in the store, however, please protect yourself to what ever level you deem to be appropriate.  If you have not been fully vaccinated, please wear a mask at the Club meetings.  Please be aware that mask protocols at any time. For information about the Sacramento Chess School, please go their page using the link on the left. The Sacramento Chess Club meets Tuesday evenings from 6 to 10 pm at Great Escape Games, 1250 Howe Avenue, Suite 3A (the shopping center has an Old Navy and Ross store in it). Great Escape Games is located at the furthest point away from the corner of Howe and Hurley in the shopping center (you will need to drive behind the shopping center to get to Great Escape Games).  We are a USCF affiliate and charge no dues.  Everyone of all ages and playing strength is welcome!

You may join the Sacramento Chess Club's Chess.com Club by clicking here.  Upcoming Weekend Events 5th Stephen Sosnick Memorial Chess Festival  April 10-12, 2025 Events will be held at the UC Davis Conference Center, 550 Alumni Lane, Davis, CA.   April 10: Joel Benjamin -- GM Simultaneous Exhibition (mandatory Simultaneous Exhibition check-in by 6:00-6:25 pm).  April 11: Action Chess: G/30 +10, 5 rounds in 5 sections, check-in 8:45-9 am, Round 1 @ 9 am. April 12: Rapid Chess: G/15 +10, 7 Rounds in 5 sections, check-in 8:45-9 am, Round 1 @ 9 am. Extras: Great venue, GM game analysis, puzzles, Q & A, food truck for lunch Check the Stephen Sosnick Memorial Chess Festival website for additional event information including fees, the full schedule for each event, and a link to the registration page.  Register early for a sign-up discount.  NOTE:  Saturday April 11 registration closes at 9 pm on Friday, April 10; Sunday April 12 registration closes at 9 pm on Saturday, April 11.  Use this link to register. No on-site registrations will be accepted. Hyatt Place is the tournament hotel with an event rate for sleeping rooms.  Hyatt Place is located adjacent to the event hall. Questions? Please contact Michael Aigner at michael@fpawn.com. 2026 Del Campo Chess Championship April 30, 2026 The event will be held at Del Campo High School, 4925 Dewey Drive, Fair Oaks, ACC building (behind the front office). The event will have two sections, Grades 7-8 and Grades 9-12, with a time control of G/15 with no delay or increment. The tournament will be USCF rated. Sacramento Pawns On-Line Events through Chess.com On-going -- hosted by Michael Aigner (aka fpawn)  In order to participate in these events, you will need to log on to your Chess.com account and join the Sacramento Pawns Chess Group. This is a closed group (approval needed to join) to discourage trolls and other bad actors. Identify yourself or your child in case Michael does not recognize you, either by message on Chess.com or per email (michael@fpawn.com). If you do not have an account on Chess.com, you may register a basic account (free!) and join the club. Currently scheduled events are G/10 arenas from 7 to 8 PM on most Sundays. Davis Scholastic Chess Club (DSCC) The DSCC holds weekly in person and online meetings.   The club has a very active group of students and newcomers are always welcome.  Here is a list of upcoming events.  Please contact NM John Langreck with any questions by sending him an email.
